Replacing The Oil And Oil Filter On A Fiat 500x MJET






The oil filter housing is located just above the right side drive shaft so you may need a short spanner. This 'How To' is based on the 1.6 MJET.

Undo the the x4 10mm undertray screws (x2 front, x2 rear)...

...and the x4 Philips (x2 on either side).

The sump plug is 13mm.

Drain the oil into a suitable waste container.

border='1'

The cap to the oil filter housing is 32mm (there will be some oil spillage).

Remove the old oil filter and replace the o-ring seal.

Insert the new oil filter and screw on the cap.

Renew the sump plug washer and replace the sump plug. Fit the undertray.

Undo the oil filler cap.

Pour in about x5 litres of the recommended engine oil. Screw the oil filler cap back on then briefly start the engine to circulate the oil.

Pull out the dip stick.

Wipe it, put it back, pull it out again and check the level. Top up if necessary.
